That's Your Theory?

It's amazing how things go downhill so fast. The desperate fight against the mass disorder and unraveling of the universe is impossible to hold off for any amount of time.

I wasn't even feeling that great, maybe kind of zen after that kid spared me.

Then a little bit of this, some of that and then it looks like you have an internal water leak in your wall. I think it's not quite that bad, but my spigot is all fucked up. The freeze cover didn't work. The plastic cover I had burst when it froze and water started leaking back into the wall. Not cool.

What a shitty freeze cover. I need to rebuild the internal shutoff and the outside spigot itself, as long as I haven't actually created a leak inside the wall due to freezing. Then I'd have to replace it all with a freeze proof silcock. He he he silcock.

I don't know. I really want some company to call me and tell me I can leave here. I'm don't feel like I have a purpose at work. I'm getting jerked around on this promotion. It's not doing it for me.

Ordered my lusted over shin guards. They came down $20 so I snapped them up. One bright point, although they will probably not have them in stock or some bullshit.

That's the way things are going. Higher and higher levels of entropy.

And who do you think you are, Sir?

I forgot how frustrating and difficult my job can be. In the shit. Slangin' hydraulics. Breathing smoke.

I wanted to start early today, but you can't get a fucking thing done before 8:30 because of safety meetings and trying to hitch a ride to the test site in the fucking downpour.

I get my shit going, and I'm feeling pretty good. I need to get a pump adjusted. Turns out this pump is located in the belly of the beast and is nearly impossible to get a wrench on for my poor mechanic. Each adjustment takes about 30 min to determine how the pressures and fan speeds have changed. There are also two pressure settings that need to be altered and one affects the other. Turn one up and the other goes up also. Get one set and the other is fucked.

5 hours later and I think I've got it, and my software to interface with the machine goes crazy and I need to have IT fix it for me. They reinstall it because they have no idea what is going on with it either. By this time 1st shift is over. No more mechanic. I check my pressures and they aren't right. One day to set a pump, and I couldn't even get that done.

Tomorrow is another work day, however.

Swim lessons with the boy tonight were good though. His enjoyment and the warm water pool made the stress go down.

The Weight

The question everyone has with you when you’ve just had a baby is “So, how is the baby doing?”

They don’t really want to know. It’s just chit-chat. When I tell them he’s lost weight and isn’t eating enough they get that pained look on their face like “Oh shit I don’t want to hear this.”

People just want to hear that he’s doing good.

Apparently Oz was just a good faker when it came to breastfeeding. He seemed like a natural right off the bat. Turns out babies who are like 35, 36, 37 weeks (like Oz), kind of know what they are doing sucking when the milk is first there and easy to get, but once it takes more effort to suck and get, they aren’t so good. So he was 7,6 when he was born then got to 7,9, but then dropped down to 6,15 yesterday. That’s 10% of his weight, and that’s about the max you want them to lose. He was getting cranky and his eyes were getting a bit dark, and wasn’t peeing as much. There isn’t much a real nice way to put it other than he was starving.

So now we’re giving him breastmilk via a small syringe with a tip that will fit in his mouth while he’s breastfeeding. This way we can make sure he’s getting enough and he’ll get back to his fighting weight. Eventually he’ll get the hang of sucking harder to get milk, he just needs to get bigger.

I played hockey for the last time for 6 weeks on Sunday. The rink is shutting down for maintenance. It solidified in my mind that I need to play in B-league. There were some Bradley club guys there and some other A-League players and I was able to hold my own. I even had a goal. Not a real impressive one, but a goal none the less. Now I just need to scam my way onto an established team so I don’t have to play on one of the crap B-league teams. In the meantime I think I’m going to pull out my hockey rollerblades and rollerblade around the rich neighborhood across Sheridan, “The Knolls”. I live on the poor side of the street. I’ll go shirtless and scare all the old people and rich 30-Somethings who send their spawn to private schools with my naked women tattoos.

I’m having these vivid dreams ever since Oz was born. It must be because I’m not falling into really deep sleep to the point where I don’t remember them like usual. Very random content, that I should write down since they’re gone by the time I shower in the morning.

Now for the music:

And this hilarity: Bill O'Reilly is such a dick.

Kitchen Remodel: Day 3

What the hell did we do today? It didn't seem like much compared to the two previous days. We got a later start since we busted ass the last two days, and didn't start working until about 9:00. We spent a bunch of the day driving around getting stuff we needed to keep working. An electric box, a bigger mud trowel, a table saw. All that time in the car didn't leave much time to get things done. The finish painting of the walls is done, minus the new wall, and the first cabinet is up, and our mistake (see below) is on the mend.

I can do electric too.

Kitchen finish paint done.

Our screw up. We cut the box outlet for the outlet above the countertop too high (into the bottom of the microwave cabinet. It still kind of needed to be there so we just cut it lower and mudded in the bottom piece on the top.

Uppers prepped.

First cabinet in, square and plum with the world.

Finishing the wall mudding. Lazy Susan out of the box.

Tomorrow we'll start early, and now that I borrowed a table saw from my buddy Eric we can cut filler pieces square and can put in the rest of the cabinets. I'm hoping we can get all the cabinets and counter in tomorrow so we can lay tile in two days.
