I didn't vote for him twice for a reason
How can anyone defend or support this ass-hat anymore?
Seriously, ...providing healthcare to children, which is paid for by a "61-cent tax on each pack of cigarettes to pay for the measure". What a dick. How can you veto something like that.
You're paying for healthcare for children with money from dumbasses who choose to smoke and put a burden on the system.
Seriously... (shaking head)
Explain this to me Steve, I don't get it, and please don't give me it's a slippery slope to socialized medicine. That's a bullshit excuse. You're paying for this by taxing people who are idiots, not everyone.

The major objection I've heard is that raising taxes on cigarettes will cause less people to smoke, therefore there will be less funding for the program. Which seems reasonable. But then the solution is to find another way to fund the program. Like say, quitting the war.

If less people smoke they are less of a burden on the healthcare system which benefits us all.
Tax the hell out of smokers.

From what I've observed of smokers, they're not going to quit because the habit gets a little more expensive. It's already outrageously costly, but they don't seem to mind... If they've got money to fund the imminent lung cancer, then they've probably got the money to help out the kids.

Okay... how to answer this... lets see.
If your kid is sick and you didn't have insurance and you took them to a hospital, would they treat your kid if you did not have the money?
Hell yes...
When my son had the seizure a few weeks back an Ambulance took him to the hospital. What did they do, go "Oh shit... how you gonna pay for this man, so we can tell you what's wrong with him?" Fuck... I just got the bill for it now. Didn't seem that they were hurting for it. If I was some poor bastard... they couldn't do shit.
As far as the tax thing... as a true conservative why does the government need to charge a certain segment of the population and not the rest of us, evenly, for it? Also if you paid attention to the bill there Lawryde... a kid was determined to be any kid, not just poor kids and it classified a kid as being 0-25 years old. Where does that make sense? Shouldn't a 25 year old have a job being 7 years out of high school? Or are you big on giving people handouts if they want to sit on their ass.
